Hugo N. Gerstl brings over 55 years of extensive legal experience to Bay Legal. After earning his Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law in 1965 and admission to the California Bar in 1966, Hugo built a distinguished career serving clients primarily in the Monterey Bay area while regularly working throughout the South Bay and Santa Clara County.
Hugo's legal career began in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a Judge Advocate at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona and later in Ankara, Turkey — an experience that shaped his disciplined, precise approach to legal practice. Throughout his career, his expertise has spanned litigation, estate planning, family law, and business law, offering clients a broad range of services grounded in decades of courtroom and advisory experience.
In addition to his law career, Hugo has achieved remarkable success as a novelist, publishing 16 novels, many of which have gained international recognition and been translated into multiple languages. This creative dimension reflects his exceptional command of language, narrative, and human complexity — qualities that serve him well as a trusted advisor and advocate.
